Hello and welcome to Spanish 1,

This year we will be learning the basics of the Spanish language using the textbook series, Aventuras level 1.
In this course we will be learning the sounds of the Spanish alphabet, greetings, how to order food, ask for directions, and to describe ourselves and other people. By the end of the course you will be able to hold a short conversation, get to and from different locations, and feel confident enough to order dinner in Spanish.

You will be graded in a variety of ways from traditional quizzes and tests to formative assessments that include a variety of on-going projects, writing samples, class participation, and role playing exercises.

The Aventuras textbook includes a video series that will give you the opportunity to listen to native speakers and check to see what you can understand.
